Oxford Darkrooms
With a background in photojournalism, Adrian spent almost thirty years based in China covering the period of Reform and Opening Up for international media such as Newsweek and Reuters. For a while he worked for corporate clients such as Coca-Cola, Apple and Shell. Using digital got the job done but when rebasing in Oxfordshire Adrian resumed his first love – darkroom based black and white. The magic of transferring what your mind’s eye first noticed onto a blank piece of paper remains as awesome as it was the first time he saw it in his school darkroom many years ago. In his newly built teaching darkroom, Adrian has sourced one of the finest arrays of enlargers, lenses and other equipment in the country. A dozen Leitz enlargers, one even dating back to the 1930s, and other beauties such as UK-made De Vere 504s enable the keen photographer to get the most out of any negative. Fully-equipped for RC and fibre printing as well as alternative processes.
